Die Consultic Marketing & Industrieberatung GmbH hat im Auftrag der Arbeitsgemeinschaft PVC und Umwelt e.V. Zahlen zu PVC – Abfall und Verwertung für 2005 erarbeitet. Die Datenerhebungen basiert auf der Verwendung eines multiplen Ansatzes. Neben der Auswertung aller verfügbaren Produktions- und Abfalldaten sowie der Einbeziehung offizieller Statistiken und Marktexplorationen werden direkte Interviews mit den wesentlichen Marktakteuren analysiert.
Im Jahr 2005 betrug laut dieser Erhebung die gesamte PVC-Abfallmenge, inklusive Produktions- und Verarbeitungsabfällen, 505 kt. Mehr als 80 % wurden hiervon energetisch oder stofflich verwertet. Der Anteil der stofflichen Verwertung betrug 36 %, dies entspricht rund 180 kt PVC. Hiervon waren 120 kt Produktions- und Verarbeitungsabfälle.

Im Jahr 2005 fielen 360 kt Post Consumer PVC-Abfälle an, dies entspricht 10 % des gesamten Post Consumer Kunststoffabfalles. Hiervon wurden 60 kt stofflich verwertet. Diese Menge verteilt sich auf 54 kt PVC (15 %) die der werkstofflichen und 6 kt (2 %) die der rohstofflichen Verwertung zugeführt wurden. Aufgrund der hohen Nachfrage nach Kupfer und Aluminium trägt besonders das Kabelrecycling zur werkstofflichen Verwertung bei. Die Deponieschließung für organische Abfälle seit Juni 2005 macht verschiedene PVC-Verwertungswege wettbewerbsfähiger. Dies wird sich in weiter steigenden Recyclingmengen niederschlagen. Bereits 2005 wurden 10 kt mehr als im Vorjahr werkstofflich verwertet.

In Deutschland existieren verschiedenste Sammel- und Verwertungssysteme für das PVC-Recycling diverser Bauprodukte. Fensterprofile, Rohre, Dachbahnen, Kabel, und Bodenbeläge, die zusammen mehr als 70 % des PVC-Absatzes ausmachen. Daneben gibt es wie bei anderen Werkstoffen auch zahlreichen Angebote zur Verwertung von Produktionsabfällen wie Stanzgitter, Randabschnitte sowie für weitere Produkte wie beschichtete Textilien oder Scheckkarten.

Consultic data for PVC waste and recycling


The marketing research company Consultic GmbH acquired PVC waste and recycling data for Germany for 2005 on behalf of Working Group PVC and Environment (AgPU). The data base on the application of a multiple approach. The data from existing waste and production information, official statistics and market surveys were combined with information from questionnaires and interviews with producing, processing and recycling industries.

A total PVC waste -including waste from production and processing- of 505 kt was evaluated for Germany for 2005. More than 80 % has been treated by energy recovery or material recycling. The share in material recycling was 36 %, this is equal to approximately 180 kt PVC. 120 kt belong to waste from production and processing.

360 kt of PVC post consumer waste accumulated in 2005. This equals to 10 % of the total post consumer plastic waste. 60 kt are treated by material recycling; that means 54 kt PVC have been mechanically recycled and 6 kt have been used for energy recovery. Due to the huge demand for copper and aluminium, especially the recycling of cables contributes to mechanical recycling. Since June 2005 landfill sites are closed down for organic waste. For that reason different ways of PVC recycling become more competitive and the amount of PVC recycling will continuously increase. Compared to 2004, already an additional amount of 10 kt PVC was treated by mechanical recycling in 2005.

In Germany several collecting and recycling systems for diverse construction products are available. Window profiles, pipes, roofing membrane, cables and flooring amount to 70 % of the total PVC demand. Besides, there are several offers for recycling of production waste, like scrap web, or other products like coated textiles or bank cards.
