PVC Recycling Campaign

The production figures and market development of PVC and PVC products point to a continued positive trend. The PVC sector creates and secures jobs: the manufacturing, processing, and recycling of PVC translates into approximately 20 million euros in turnover in Germany and 170,000 workers in more than 5,000 companies for manufacturing, processing, and trade.

Approximately 60% of the PVC produced every year is converted into building products generated as waste in the construction and waste management sectors at the end of their time of use. For these PVC products (floor coverings, roofing membranes, windows, pipes and tarpaulins), recycling plants and collection systems, which offer a better alternative to waste owners than the landfill, have been established and improved since the beginning of the 1990s. 

Finally, through financial support from Vinyl 2010 – the voluntary self-commitment of the PVC industry (PVC-manufacturers, additive producers, and converters) – recycling activities are increasingly being developed.
